Arleuf is a moderate sized village 8kms
east of Chateau-Chinon on the main route between Nevers and
Autun in the region of La Nievre, Burgundy.
Because the village is
bisected by a Route Nationale it is easy to
drive straight through without really noticing
that it's there but in doing so the visitor
misses out on a small, very individual part of
France. Of course the visitor driving straight
through sees only a small part of the village
and its commune, you will pass the "Cornemuse",
bar/bistrad, very colourful and difficult to
miss, and the Relais du Haut Folin and maybe
even spot the Mairie with the school to the rear
but you will miss the church, camping site,
playing fields, tennis courts and also
marvellous woodland walks, rides or treks.

The Commune of Arleuf
spreads much wider than the village itself and
many, many small, picturesque hamlets lie
waiting to be explored.
From the visitors point
of view the best time to see Arleuf is when one
of the many annual events are taking place or
when the Cornemuse has one of it's a live music
nights. During these times you will no doubt
want somewhere to stay and the selection is
varied, Arleuf has a Hotel, Chambre d'Hotes,
Gites and a very well equiped, flat camping
ground.
So if you're passing,
don't just pass, stop and have a look.
